On Friday, January 24th, breaking, and surprising news came out of Los Angeles. According to Konnor Fulk of XFL News Hub, Shawn Oakman, will be on the Wildcats 52 man roster come Monday the 27th when it is announced.
Oakman was drafted by the Wildcats but was cut in a surprising move during mini-camp. It seemed the cut was due to locker room issues as Coach Winston Moss told This Is The XFL Show that;
“The LA Wildcats are all about supporting each other and winning a Championship. We made a collective and joint decision it was best to move on.”
It seems like the Wildcats and Moss are giving Oakman a second chance to prove himself.
Oakman was an absolute beast at Baylor and was projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft until he was accused of sexual assault. This caused every single team to pass on the former Baylor standout. He was later found innocent of the charges but never ended up getting another chance at an NFL roster.
Oakman was not with the team for any part of training camp so it will likely take a little bit to get him up and running at full speeds. No matter how long it takes, expect Oakman to be a huge part of this Wildcats defense.
