The San Antonio Brahmas are working to cut their roster down to 51 before February 10. They came closer to that goal on Monday with their latest round of releases.
The Brahmas released six players on Monday, and placed another defensive end Justin Alexandre on the Reserve List. These transactions bring the team’s active roster to 56. The following players were released:
- WR Kendrick Rogers
- OL Kohl Levao
- DL Youhanna Ghaifan
- DL Jahmahl Johnson
- DB Abrae Booker-Currin
- DB Justin Martin
There are some interesting names among those released by the Brahmas. Rogers seemed poised to not only make the roster, but play a big role in head coach Hines Ward’s offense this season.
The Texas A&M product was the first wide receiver selected by the Brahmas in the XFL Draft. San Antonio selected him in the third round of the Skill Players portion of the draft.
Abrae Booker-Currin is also an interesting name released. The Adams State product had a chance to play a big role in the secondary, even if he fell short of earning a starting spot.
Booker-Currin played most of his college ball at West Texas. He played in the secondary and occasionally returned kicks. He recorded 16 tackles and picked off a pass in 2020 for West Texas.
The Brahmas begin their season on February 19th. San Antonio will play host to the St. Louis BattleHawks in a game that pits two passionate fanbases against one another.
