The Tampa Bay Vipers have placed wide receiver Antonio Callaway on the injured reserve list. Callaway was injured yesterday during practice and had to be carted to the locker room, according to several reports.
Yesterday after practice, Vipers head coach Marc Trestman spoke with media regarding Callaway’s injury calling it a lower-leg injury but didn’t have an update on his condition.
The team practiced again today but no further word was given on the receiver’s condition.
The move will open up a spot on the roster. The team added linebacker Anthony Stubbs to the active list yesterday morning before the initial injury occurred. But no official corresponding move has been made to fill the vacancy left by Callaway’s move to the injured reserve.
#Vipers are placing WR Antonio Callaway on IR. Trestman: “Antonio came here focused, working hard to make the team. He did everything that we asked him to. He was engaging with the players and came here to work and get himself ready to play. We were excited to have him with us.”
The Vipers open 2020 on the road against the New York Guardians on February 9th. As soon as an update is made on Callaway’s injury, the severity, or timetable for return, XFL News Hub will have it.
