Brahmas Release Two Players As Season Draws Near

The San Antonio Brahmas kick their season off in two weeks. As the season draws near, the team will be finalizing their roster relatively soon. For now, the roster shuffle continues.

The Brahmas have released wide receiver Terry Wright and tight end Darrell Daniels. With these moves, the Brahmas’ active roster sits at 69, leaving them one open spot for a potential future signing.

Daniels sees his time with the Brahmas in the XFL come to an end just six days after being signed originally. The 28-year-old went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft before signing with the Indianapolis Colts.

Daniels was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, and bounced around with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans. In 2022, he signed back with the Colts, but he was released shortly after signing.

Daniels played collegiately at the University of Washington. He switched to tight end from wide receiver as a sophomore, and became a regular player his junior year. In 26 career games, the 28-year-old caught 47 passes for 728 yards for five total touchdowns while averaging 15.5 yards per catch.

Wright, 26, went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks and made their practice squad. Wright was released from their practice squad a few months into the season.

After bouncing around with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins, Wright left the NFL. The 26-year-old signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL. Ottawa placed Wright on their suspended list after signing him, and he never played a down in Canada.

The Brahmas drafted Wright in the XFL Draft in November. He entered training camp projected to earn a starting spot out of camp for San Antonio.

Wright played collegiately in the Big Ten at Purdue. He spent two years with the Boilermakers, playing in 25 games. He caught 57 passes in those games, racking up 742 receiving yards and five career touchdowns while averaging 13 yards per catch.
