The XFL has fans buzzing with anticipation after releasing a teaser video across their social media channels hinting at a major announcement set for August 1st. The video features standout players such as Arlington Renegades’ XFL Championship MVP QB Luis Perez, DC Defenders’ DL Joe Wallace, San Antonio Brahmas’ WR Nick Holley, and Orlando Guardians’ TE Cody Latimer. Curiously, players from the Houston and Vegas teams were notably absent, fueling further speculation.
Given the timing and the personnel involved, speculation among fans and experts alike has centered on two possibilities: the XFL might be announcing the opening of season ticket sales to the public, or they might be releasing the 2024 schedule.
Looking back, the XFL released its 2023 schedule on January 5, 2023, and kick-off happened a little over a month later on February 18th. This tight timeframe allowed teams to drum up excitement and ticket sales in anticipation of the season’s start. In contrast, the NFL traditionally releases their schedule around five months ahead of the season’s kick-off. This year, the NFL’s schedule release happened on May 11, 2023, with the first game scheduled for September 7, 2023.
Could the XFL be changing its strategy and planning an early schedule release? It seems a tad premature considering it would be seven months before the season begins. But with NFL training camps kicking off the week of July 24th, the XFL could be trying to get fans’ attention before the US goes into full NFL mode with preseason games and fantasy drafts. The return of the school year around the corner could also be a factor in the timing.
Another thing to consider is the XFL Combine slated for July 26 and 27th, which will be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook. The event could potentially shed more light on the upcoming announcement. Further fueling the curiosity, whispers about a recent photoshoot suggest some eye-catching promotional material could be part of the big reveal.
Whatever the XFL has up its sleeve for August 1st, the excitement building among the fan base is palpable. Stay tuned as we continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
