So it begins the return of the XFL in 2023, the 3.0 era as we call it. RedBird Capital Partners founding partner Gerry Cardinale mentioned last week in an interview with Sportico that we would see “an increasing crescendo” of XFL news. I am sure it is the first of many news items coming from the XFL.
ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports that the XFL has made several hires official, including a new league president, as our own Mike Mitchell reported several weeks ago. Former Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon is the new XFL league president.
Here is the list of new hires by the XFL. Some are new faces others were part of the XFL 2.0 era.

Marc Ross – Executive vice president of football operations and be responsible for all on-field operations (a former New York Giants personnel evaluator)
Rob Gerbe – Chief financial officer (a former NBA executive)
Jay Rothman – Senior vice president, broadcast operations (a former vice president of production at ESPN)

Doug Whaley – Deputy to executive vice president of football operations
Janet Dutch – Chief marketing and content officer
Jordan Schlachter – Chief business officer
Scott Harniman – Senior vice president, enterprise technology
Cindy Wagner – Senior vice president, people operations
