The Detroit Lions have signed Dallas Renegades CB Josh Hawkins to their Practice Squad. This is the third NFL team he has signed with this season. He spent time on the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers.
He was cut by Carolina back in October after a video of Hawkins dancing in a crowded restaurant with no mask on made the rounds on social media.
Hawkins joins QB Jordan Ta’amu (BattleHawks) and C Jon Toth (Defenders) on the Lions Practice Squad. He is the 11th Dallas Renegades player to sign with a pro club. 8 players are currently on NFL rosters. With TE Donald Parham (Chargers), LB Tegray Scales (Steelers), and RB Austin Walter (49ers) are part of their team’s 53 man roster.
Hawkins was selected in the Phase #5 Open Draft portion of the 2020 XFL draft. He was rated as one of the top CB’s in the XFL by our own Mike Mitchell.
He finished the shortened XFL season with 11 tackles, four pass defenses, and two interceptions. He played his college ball at East Carolina.
