The Battlehawks had a bit of movement this weekend, after claiming the rights of several players in addition to trading Silas Kelly. After the NFL’s second week of preseason games began, the Cleveland Browns got busy and signed a Battlehawks Defensive Back. On Saturday afternoon, St. Louis saw Nate Meadors become the 10th Battlehawk and 49th XFL Player (Victor Bolden became the 50th), to earn an NFL opportunity from the 2023 season.
Meadors was selected by the Battlehawks in the 4th round round of the January XFL Supplemental Draft. After finishing the 2022 NFL season with the Tennessee Titans, Meadors was not offered an NFL futures contract and would play in 9 games for St. Louis starting 8. He totaled 37 tackles and 2 interceptions during 2023 XFL season, and now joins his 6th NFL team (2nd stint with the Browns).
Meadors joins 9 of his Battlehawks teammates as he fights for an opportunity in Cleveland. Per the XFL 167 invitations have been earned by XFL players looking to join NFL teams, with 50 players being signed to NFL contracts.
