St. Louis made a couple roster moves Tuesday evening starting with the reinstatement of Offensive Tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith who has been inactive the past two weeks due to his involvement in the week 3 brawl at Audi Field. In a corresponding move, St. Louis has released Pooka Williams the versatile RB/WR hybrid who was released by DC, earlier in the season.
Jones-Smith is one of the XFL’s more experienced Offensive Lineman having both experience in the AAF and NFL. During his absence, true rookie Eric Magwood started at Left Tackle, making his professional debut for St. Louis. In a post-game interview with Magwood, the rookie Tackle talked about the importance of Jones-Smith leadership and how he helped him get prepared for his first two career starts.
For Williams, it appears he’s once again on the waiver-wire looking for another opportunity. The former Kansas Jayhawk and NFL vet has now failed to latch on with two of the eight XFL teams, however, is primed for another opportunity, as injuries continue to pile up, for all XFL teams.
With five weeks left in the season, and playoff pushes in full swing, the Battlehawks gaining their experienced Offensive Tackle is crucial down stretch. Unfortunately, it comes at the cost of releasing a talent skill-player who has showcased plenty of upside in the past.
