Fan Controlled Football is truly turning the sports and entertainment world on its head, with weekly drafts, unprecedented access to players, and giving the fans control of the playbook.
Week 1 didn’t disappoint, and now we wait in anticipation like a child when he sees his birthday presents sitting on the table. We have an idea of what to expect, but we’re sure that what will happen is better than we think.
Someone will leave Saturday night’s games undefeated, or winless. The 1-0 Beasts take on the 1-0 Wild Aces at 8p ET, and the 0-1 Zappers face the 0-1 Glacier Boyz 9p ET.
Wild Aces vs Beasts
Wild Aces’ Franchise Tagged QB Jackson Erdmann will not play tonight because of a grade 2 shoulder separation he suffered during last week’s game vs the Glacier Boyz.
The fans made sure they would be in good hands by drafting Deondre Francois. It’s likely last week’s hero QB Ed Crouch, who went undrafted, will be assigned as QB2.
Francois had the best Week 1 for a QB2 throwing the ball, going 3-5 for 36 yards and a score. If Jerdy can’t go, he will have a plenty of opportunity to improve those stats.
That wasn’t the only move the Aces made to solidify their place at the top of the league. During the 2nd set of tags, the owners reached out and grabbed the SB from the Beasts Ladarius Galloway.
Galloway is a weapon in both facets of the game. We saw how important establishing the run was last week, and the Wild Aces knew they had to put that in place.
That doesn’t mean the Beasts didn’t prepare either. Already having a WR locked down with the first round of tags (Troy Evans), the Beasts owners got their QB going into Week 2.
Quinton Flowers will be behind center for the remainder of the season for the green and black. Through the draft, they brought back their Week 1 QB2, TJ Edwards, who quietly had the best game of a QB2 with 96 yards on the ground, and 2TDs. Throwing for 24 yards and a score.
The story here though for the Beasts is making WR/SB Christian Saulsberry their top pick in the draft. Saulsberry can play both positions and joins a receiving corps with Evans, Treydonte Hill, and Damon Sheehy.
SB Madre London will be the main runner, but look for some alternate lineups this week.
As for the units, the Beasts brought back the Shut Down Squad, and drafted Dam Nation as their OL group. Meaning the Heavy Hitters and Block Party are with the Wild Aces.
Glacier Boyz vs Zappers
Both of these teams look to bounce back from Week 1 losses. They played well, but wasn’t enough to get the win for either team.
Some big news came for the Zappers off the field as it was announced that former FSU and current Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has become a part owner. This will undoubtedly bring more eyes to the league.
On the field, QB Johnny Manziel looks to improve on his Week 1 performance. He ran well, put the passing game just wasn’t there.
Following the trend, the Zappers tagged SB Anthony Jones, who also happens to be Cook’s cousin. They brought back QB2 Logan Marchi, added SB Berkley Edwards, and WRs James Harden, Alphonso Carter, and Travis Toivonen.
The Glacier Boyz snagged WR Andrew Jamiel as their 2nd Franchise tag, and brought in last week’s almost hero for the Zappers, WR Kavontae Turpin, who had that last effort to try and win the Zappers’ game vs the Beasts.
They also brought in the top SB from last week, Calen Campbell. His 8 rushes for 45 yards and 2 scores will definitely bolster a lackluster Week 1 ground game.
That part is on the fans too, though. Need to call more than 7 running plays to compete.
The Glacier Boyz have the Heavy Hitters and the Block Party as their units, and the Zappers will go with the Shut Down Squad and Dam Nation.
With the new tags, new teams, and a successful week under their belt, we have no doubt Week 2 will be another great showing from the league.
Don’t miss the action, beginning at 730p ET on their Twitch channel.
