The USFL released the following information on their social media tonight. The first group of USFL head coaches will be announced Thursday on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1 and FOX Sports Radio. We have heard from sources within the league that it is not the full 8 coaches yet.
Tune-in to @TheHerd on FS1 tomorrow at 12pm ET / 9am PT for a special announcement about USFL coaches.
The Herd is on from 12pm ET to 3pm ET on FS1 and FOX Sports Radio . No specific time when the announcement will be made during the show.
Cowherd’s show announced the eight teams returning to the USFL on November 22nd, 2021. It looks like The Herd will be the vehicle Fox uses to make their USFL announcements going forward.
We have heard that the league is trying to have younger players and younger coaches, so it will be interesting if any NFL, XFL, AAF or CFL coaches make the jump.
Last year during The Spring League season, the Generals had Bart Andrus, who was in charge of the XFL’s Team 9. Jousters head coach Kevin Gilbride was the head coach of the New York Guardians. The eventual TSL Champion Linemen had the Dallas Renegades OC Hal Mumme as head coach, and Jerry Glanville was the DC for the Tampa Bay Vipers. He was head coach of the Conquerors. The Blues head coach Ted Cottrell was DC for the Houston Roughnecks, and the Sea Lions Head coach Larry Kirksey was the Seattle Dragons receivers coach.
Could the USFL land coaches like Bob Stoops, or former AAF coaches like Dennis Erickson of the Salt Lake Stallions. Mike Martz from the San Diego Fleet or Steve Spurrier of the Orlando Apollos.
Could the league make a splash and sign Jon Gruden, who resigned as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Based on the league trying to keep costs low, we could see one or two big-name coaches and the rest young up-and-coming coaches. We will have to tune in a find out. Maybe some names get leaked before the show. Make sure you follow all XFL News Hubs social channels for any breaking USFL news.
With less than 100 days till kick off. Buckle up because Spring Football is back.
