The Spring League (TSL) Week 5 North Division Transactions

Every week we have seen roster moves from each of the two divisions within the newly formatted Spring League. Week 5 is no different. But, some of the transactions this week could have bigger impacts than previous ones.

Alphas:

The only player that was released by the Alphas was RB Brian Burt. Burt really set the league on fire last season, and picked up in 2021 where he left off in 2020. The only problem is, Blake Morgan has broken the scene wide open.

While Burt has moved on – expect an announcement soon – the team picked up Western Michigan RB Jarvion Franklin, who as a freshman racked up 24 TDs on the ground. After his time there was through, he had over 5500 all-purpose yards, and 56 total TDs.

The Alphas also added to their defensive line by picking up Ke’Tyrus Marks who played at Arkansas, and Samford Universities. A monster in the A gap, who will plug holes against the running game, and open up the guys on the edge, and on the second level to make plays.

DL Zane Smith out of Stetson University is another new member of the Alphas defense. He can play both inside and on the edge, so, look for him to take up a major role as the team looks to keep the number spot in the division down the stretch.

OL David Brown is most recently from the CFL, and is making a push to at least get back into that league, and ultimately get into the NFL. He brings experience in a similar offense, and may not make an immediate impact in the field, but his leadership should help out quickly as Thursday’s games.

Aviators

QB Keller Chryst wasn’t having the year he had hoped, and now that he will miss the rest of the season, the Aviators signed former XFL QB Vad Lee.

Last week I asked what the Alphas adding Brady White meant for Lee, and now we see,

WR Delvon Hardaway’s loss is huge. He was a bigvtarget in 2020 for the Aviators, and the same for this year. They’ll need to fins someone to step into those shoes for the final few weeks of the season.

Stefan Claiborne is a big add for their defense, as he can play S and CB, guving them depth at both positions. RB Kelvin Taylor was a 6th rd pick by the 49ers, and bounced around the NFL before playing for the Apollos in the #AAF. The team also brought back QB George Bowen from 2020.

Conquerors

Not surprised by the move in the kicking game, as it wasn’t working out for Cole Murphy. His replacement, Michael Carrizosa punted at San Jose St.

RB Art Thompkins is out of Toledo and UConn, good in passing game, small stature, but a really shifty guy. He’ll add to their weapons.

LB Zach Richardson is what some call a tweener, meaning he can play LB, cover, and play S. He should go great with Hall and See..

R9n’Quavuon Tarver played at Utah State with Jordan Love, and while he wasn’t a top target, he did benefit from playing with that talented of a QB. Should be really good for Anderson and Silvers as they make a late push to upset the top-ranked Alphas.
