Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, XFL co-owners, held meetings at Capitol Hill with several U.S. senators.
Discussions centered on military recruitment and the XFL, amidst the potential USFL and XFL merger.
The visit suggests ongoing commitment to XFL’s growth and possible collaborations with the military.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, alongside XFL Chairwoman Dany Garcia, recently made headlines with their visit to Capitol Hill. Amidst the ongoing discussions about a possible merger between the XFL and USFL, this trip, organized by Sen. Jon Tester’s (D-Mont.) office, indicates their deep involvement in the league’s direction and expansion.
During the visit, Johnson and Garcia engaged in discussions with several senators, including Dick Durbin, Susan Collins, and Lindsey Graham. The central topics of these meetings revolved around enhancing military recruitment and the future of the XFL. Sources tell us the merger talks between the XFL-USFL and US Government regarding regulatory approval hit a snag over the number teams that will be part of this new league. Garcia teased this trip last week on her Instagram account.
Interestingly, Johnson’s presence on Capitol Hill was not limited to formal meetings. He interacted with U.S. Capitol Police, prompting light-hearted comments about his fitness and stature, even from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. His celebrity status played a dual role, attracting attention to the XFL and its initiatives while also highlighting his personal interest in national issues.
The discussions on Capitol Hill also extended to military recruitment challenges. With the armed forces reportedly falling short of their recruitment goals, the senators seemed to recognize Johnson’s influence in potentially attracting more young people to the military. This reflects an emerging trend where sports leagues and personalities are increasingly involved in broader societal and national concerns.
The Capitol visit comes at a critical time for the XFL. While fans eagerly anticipate the outcomes of the USFL and XFL merger, Johnson and Garcia’s active role in high-level discussions reveals their commitment to the league’s future. Their involvement in ongoing business and potential new partnerships, even as merger talks continue, suggests a strong dedication to ensuring the XFL’s success and relevance, both in the sports arena and beyond.
Meanwhile, @TheRock is in the Capitol meeting with Senators about XFL and military recruitment. The meeting was arranged by Sen Tester, I’m told.
The Capitol Hill meetings, led by XFL co-owners Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, highlight a strategic move in perhaps expanding the league’s scope. By engaging with national leaders and delving into issues like military recruitment, they are positioning the XFL-USFL not just as a sports entity but as a potential partner in national endeavors.

Come on. Sorry mark the XFL-USFL “merger” doesn’t register on govs Richter scale. They allow Microsoft to merge with Activision but not here? The gov isn’t going to tell startups how to run biz and layoffs. They lost $60mm (at least!), they can’t layoff anyone? Please.
