The Orlando Guardians are back in action for a Week 5 clash against the Vegas Vipers. Saturday’s game comes just one week removed from a 44-16 blowout loss at the hands of the Houston Roughnecks.
Terrell Buckley’s squad will arguably have their best shot at a victory against the winless Vipers on the road. Vegas enters this matchup after a 32-18 defeat against the D.C. Defenders last weekend.

Guardians Injury Report
Orlando’s favorable injury luck continues with another relatively healthy week. The only player in question come game day should be backup quarterback Deondre Francois who is dealing with a concussion. The Guardians should be fine on the quarterback end with Quinton Dormady returning to the team, alongside Quinton Flowers, who was signed two weeks ago.
Guardians-Vipers Prediction
This week’s battle between two squads who have yet to win a game should be a fun one. After dissecting each team’s week-by-week performances, it is understandable why oddsmakers have the Vipers as heavy favorites. Head coach Rod Woodson has gotten several strong performances out of his squad, and could have a much more desirable record had some more things gone their way.
Coach Buckley will have a full arsenal of players at his disposal this week. Starting quarterback Paxton Lynch has had several mediocre performances up to this point. With likely three quarterbacks available behind him, you can expect a switch-up at the position if that trend continues. The Vipers are very similar in that they also have their fair share of quarterback issues. This should play in the defense’s favor as they will likely see a mixture of both Brett Hundley and Luis Perez this weekend.
If the Guardians’ defense is able to force turnovers and limit the splash plays, the Vipers simply won’t have enough talent to overcome an Orlando offense that has been steadily improving. While the Vipers have some big names such as Martavis Bryant and Geronimo Allison, the team has simply not shown that they can consistently get their star players the ball.
Prediction: Orlando Guardians 21, Vegas Vipers 16
