It has been an up and down year for XFL News Hub as well as for XFL fans. We started the year with excitement for the 2020 XFL season. As a DC Defenders season ticket holder, I was at the first game.
I remember walking up to Audi Field and getting all emotional about the journey we had been on over the last two years. XHN began in January 2018 when the league first announced its return. Being at the first XFL game was special. Then it all came crashing down as it did for everyone across the globe.
I remember talking with Matt Nagashima a week before everything shut down and was like, should we be worried about this issue going on overseas? Do we write an article about it and how it might affect the XFL season? A week later, the XFL season and the league itself closed. We all know the history of the XFL after that.
However, we at XNH kept the lights on just because we wanted to track the journey of former XFL players in the NFL. With an outside hope that maybe someone would realize how special the XFL was.
Then news came in August. Thanks to Dany Garcia, The Rock, and RedBird Capital, we were back on track. Talk about a crazy emotional year. We are glad it is over and excited about 2021.
What To Expect in 2021
2021 will be much like it was in 2019 as we build up to kickoff in 2022. Fans should get news of a new XFL Commissioner. The league will start to hire Team presidents, coaches, and office personnel.
XFL should reveal a new TV deal in 2021 and other changes the new group has planned. Additionally, league schedules, season tickets, an XFL draft, and so much more are on the horizon.
We Still Had Fun
Despite the shutdown, we still had fun in the second half of 2020 at XFL News Hub. Josh Davis won our fantasy XFL Writers League. He beat Matt Lyons in the Championship game. Josh got $50 worth of XFL merchandise for winning.
We announced the XFL Markcast joined the crew. We think they have the best XFL Podcast out there and bring a ton of experience to our team.
We can also officially announce that in 2021 there will be XFL Fantasy Football. The site is built and being tested right now. We will launch the fantasy site after the XFL draft in 2021. We know how much fans wanted XFL Fantasy, and now you can play XFL Fantasy Football here on XFL News Hub.
XFL News Hub Stats For 2021
In total, we had over 1,185,000 people visit our site in 2020 with over 2.2 million page views. In 2019 it was 650,000 visits with 1.3 million page views.
We love the XFL army via our social media channels with over 2,200 YouTube Subscribers, 8,000 on Twitter, over 18,000 on Facebook, and over 3,000 on Instagram.
To say we are excited about 2021 is an understatement. Not only for us who cover the league but for the players, coaches, league personnel, and especially you the fans.
Thank you to our readers for sticking with us and the XFL after everything that happened. Get your Bud Light Seltzers ready, 2021 is going to be a lot of fun.
