As the XFL moves forward towards the 2020 inaugural season we expect to see many players receive their invitations to participate in the XFL draft.
We have already reported that Landry Jones has been signed as the first player for the first-round draft. He will undoubtedly be the tier one QB for one of the franchises.
I expect it will be Dallas given his relationship with Bob Stoops. Yet who else will receive invites? Commissioner Luck has said that at least 800 invites will go out. To check out More Details on the XFL Draft Commissioner Invitations take a look at The Mark’s article here!
Here is a list of players we (almost guarantee) will get invites. Whether they accept it or not that is what we will have to wait to find out.
#1 on the list goes to:
Colin Kaepernick
We all know Colin Kaepernick has said he wouldn’t play for any less than 20 million dollars which supersede the allotted salary for the highest tier in the XFL but we have heard rumors that he is gearing up to play football so…perhaps?
Since the NFL teamed up with Roc Nation’s Jay-Z one would think that Jay-Z would advocate for Kaepernick to be reestablished in the NFL but it was reported that during a conversation that Jay-Z had with Kaepernick, the conversation did NOT go good! Now I’m not saying that means anything but the possibility of Colin Kaepernick in the XFL could happen.
#2 goes to:
Tim Tebow
To have Tim Tebow in the XFL would be amazing. Currently, he is in a slump with his baseball playing so maybe he will put the pads and helmet back on and give the gridiron another go. Though he doesn’t need the money as he has recently signed a multi-year deal with ESPN to be a college football analyst. I would love to see Tebow playing in the XFL next year as I was a fan of him, not just for his skills but mainly for not backing down just because he believed in something others didn’t and never lost his faith. Like I said, whether you believe the same or not it’s still respectable to remain true to yourself and what you believe in!
#3 goes to:
Johnny Manziel
I know Johnny Manziel would drop his insurance commercial gig in a second to lace up again especially after his short-lived glory in the AAF (yeah, I know that’s questionable as he didn’t have a chance to really play or prove he could still play, since only 2 weeks after joining the league it folded but hey, he could’ve been great there in Memphis). I understand that Johnny Football has some past criminal history but Luck has already backpedaled Vince’s previous “No Criminal History” stance when he announced the league but Manziel’s “Party Boy” image is still fresh in everyone’s mind so that could be the hesitation. But then again he never received a “Summer Showcase” invite so, just maybe, the league will pass on him? I don’t know but I still would like to see him in the XFL just because I love to see someone mature and learn from their mistakes and come out better than ever, and hopefully Johnny has a chance to do that!
#4 goes to:
Trent Richardson
I know Trent Richardson has kinda been a laughing stock of the NFL and then the AAF for his lack of finding the running routes but remember, this guy was an absolute beast for “The Tide” and is ranked in the top 10 for best running backs for Alabama on most every poll. His rookie season for the Browns wasn’t bad but it seemed to go down after being traded to the Colts in his second year since the Colts line has always been…well…kinda terrible (and that hurts me to say as I’m an Indiana boy and die hard Colts fan)! But through all the jokes and memes out there I still believe he can relive those glory years in Alabama and I really hope he gets in the XFL and absolutely dominates the running game!
#5 goes to:
Dez Bryant
Bryant is currently a free agent and has already let everybody know that he is NOT retiring! I can almost guarantee we will not see Dez Bryant in the XFL but why not send him an invite anyways? I’m sure he will be picked up by one NFL team regardless if it’s not the desired Saints he’s going to call and that’s why I’m not going to really go too much into this one.
#6 goes to:
Hakeem Nicks
Another free agent but this one attended a Summer Showcase for the XFL in New York so for them not to send an invite to him would be crazy! Plus he is still a great player and after watching some of his performances in that NY Showcase, he’s still got it! Let’s hope we all get to see some amazing catches when he tears up the XFL next year! Plus, having a Super Bowl champ would be a great influence for the XFL image.
I could add tons more to this list but if I were than this would be one big long list and might get a little boring to read, and I don’t want to do that to you.
There has been a few “joked” names I’ve heard people use like NFL greats, Brett Farve, Jerry Rice and I even heard someone say something about Tom Brady should join the XFL just to add a couple more rings (or whatever they’ll give the XFL champs) to his collection but, yeah, right!
Brett Farve and Jerry Rice I’m sure could still play, albeit not on the level of their greatness but hey, Farve couldn’t stop retiring from the NFL so maybe a comeback is in the future? Extremely joking on that!
What About Brandon Wimbush
I will leave you with this thought though, what if this was all happening last year and with the situation of the Notre Dame QB situation (if your not aware of it, I’m talking about Brandon Wimbush being replaced by Ian Book after going 3-0 to start the season)?
Ian Book is no doubt a good QB but Brandon Wimbush was just as good and taking his team 3 and 0 and then being replaced at week 4 and pretty much-riding bench the remainder of the season, I’m sure was a low blow to Wimbush, which it was enough to make him transfer at the end of the year.
But what if the XFL was around before he transferred? Wimbush might have opted to forgo his senior year after being benched and declare for the XFL draft before he thought of transferring. He could’ve taken a shot at landing a tier 1 spot and make that 250k before moving on to the NFL draft.
This is all hypothetical of course and I’m not at all saying that would happen but you can see situations like these perhaps making young guys want to get a chance of playing for money and then move on to the bigger paycheck!
I’m excited to see what the future has for these great players and see where they land (hopefully in the XFL) and see what they can do for the game! We are now only about 7 months away from the start of the season and just 2 away from the draft so we should start seeing some pretty big moves coming, and very fast I assume!
Who would you like to see land in the XFL and why? Is this list very likely to happen? Let us know in the comments!

Well these three players are pretty old but they still can play Terrell Owens Chad Johnson and Michael Vick they would be some big names to add to the XFL for any team they play for they will bring fans even though there are older

Most definitely Manziel is an excellent addition to the XFL. He actually has no public record of criminal history, and the last I heard, attending parties is not a sign of questionable character. He is a natural leader on the field, as demonstrated by his performance at Texas A&M and the Cleveland Browns. He is widely popular.

No criminal history to the best of my knowledge.
