Roughnecks (5-0) vs Dragons (1-4) @ TDECU Stadium
Houston Does Not Cover -12.5 Over 45.5 Cashes
This game started off with Seattle on fire. BJ Daniels looked really comfortable in the first half. Rushing for a 6-yard touchdown in the first quarter. After a 17 yard rush by Trey Williams, the Dragons found themselves up by 14 in the middle of the second quarter. PJ Walker and the Houston offense woke up after that. Walker found Nick Holley for a 50-yard touchdown and James Butler found the endzone on the very next drive to help tie up the game 14-14 at half time.
Seattle started out the second half strong with 10 unanswered points including BJ Daniels 2nd touchdown run of the day. The Roughnecks fired right back. Butler found the endzone from 8 yards out with 7:03 left in the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter belonged to PJ Walker and Cam Phillips who connected on 2 touchdowns in the last quarter to help seal the deal for Houston. The last few seconds were very interesting. The ball was downed with 2 seconds left and should have resulted in a turnover on downs giving Seattle a chance to tie the game. However, the officials called the game over. The league did address the issue but this really cost the Dragons a shot at a comeback.
Roughnecks Review
I can’t believe I am saying this but the rushing attack actually worked well for Houston. Andre Williams averaged 5.4 yards per carry and James Butler rushed for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns. This really helped them stay in the game when Seattle went on their hot streaks. PJ Walker looked good towards the end of the game but threw 2 interceptions that should have never been thrown. The defense came up clutch again with a forced fumble recovered by Demarquis Gates. This was the biggest game for Houston in my opinion. Coming back from a 14-0 deficit is no easy task but the team united together and continued to play their game.
Key Stat 1: 10 REC, 122 YDS, 2 TD’s (Cam Phillips- WR)
Key Stat 2: 27-38, 351 YDS, 3 TD’s, 2 INT’s (PJWalker- QB)
Key Stat 3: 12 ATT, 52 YDS, 2 TD’s (James Butler- RB)
Dragons Review
The Dragons had a perfect chance to turn their season around. Your new starting QB has the players and fans excited and you have a chance to knock off the best team in the league. It was like they went stopped playing when they were up in the game. Their inability to keep their foot on the gas was their downfall. I do admit that they should have gotten the ball back with 2 seconds in the 4th to possibly tie it up but they cannot blame all of their misfortune on the refs.
Key Stat 1: 3 REC, 56 YDS (Austin Proehl-WR)
Key Stat 2: 14-22, 114 YDS, 2 Rushing TD’s (BJ Daniels-QB)
Key Stat 3: 7 TKL, 1 INT, 2 PD (Jordan Martin-SAF)
Fantasy Review
Simply put, if you started someone on the Roughnecks offense, you probably had a good showing in fantasy. Cam Phillips, James Butler, and PJ Walker continued their fantasy dominance. Nick Holley and Sam Mobley also made some really good plays. BJ Daniels was the only real bright spot for the Dragons in fantasy with his 2 rushing touchdowns.
