While merger negotiations with the USFL continue, the Battlehawks continue to go about their off-season with the mentality of “business as usual”. On November 9th the Battlehawks welcomed one of their 15 players who joined an NFL roster with Defensive Back Elijah Hamilton coming back for 2024. Hamilton spent
Hamilton was a UDFA in 2022 coming out of LA Tech after spending 2016 to 2020 at Vanderbilt. Hamilton would earn an opportunity with the Miami Dolphins only to be waived at the end of training camp. Hamilton would join the Battlehawks during the 2022 XFL Draft in November of last year, becoming a valuable piece in Donnie Abraham’s Defensive Backfield. Hamilton’s success in the XFL led to opportunity with the Green Bay Packers for the NFL’s 2023 Training Camp however he’d be waived prior to final cuts.
While the merger talks remain a mystery, fans of the Battlehawks patiently wait for the return of the premier franchise in Alt-Football to return “home”. In 2023, St. Louis saw 15 of their players earn NFL opportunities with A.J. McCarron, Marcell Ateman, LaCale London, Brian Hill, and Lukas Denis all seeing time on an NFL 53-Man roster or Practice Squad. Hamilton now joins Kevin Atkins as the 2nd player to sign their Letter of Intent to return to the XFL for 2024.
