The bittersweet news keeps coming for Battlehawks fans, as two more players earned NFL opportunities this week. On Monday, St. Louis saw a bit more roster configuration as LB Carson Wells, and DB Lavert Hill both earned NFL opportunities after successful workouts. Wells, will be joining the New England Patriots, while Hill be joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wells and Hill became the eleventh and twelfth players from the Battlehawks roster to be signed, with XFL player earning a total of 54 NFL contracts since this offseason began on May 15. Both players were instrumental pieces to Donnie Abraham’s Defense as Hill was named to the 2023 All-XFL Team Defense team, and Wells provided versatility playing Defensive End and Linebacker, while also maintaining a steady presence on Special Teams.
Hill had two interceptions with 25 tackles on the season and registered at least one tackle for loss in four of his last five games. Wells was second on the Battlehawks with 45 total tackles, seven of which were for a loss, while also registering 3.5 sacks.
With the success of Battlehawks players transitioning to the NFL, look for Dave Boller and Anthony Becht to continue to re tool and reload for the 2024, as St. Louis continues to find the right players to bring the city a championship. With NFL training camp continuing to progress, look for more Battlehawks to continue to earn NFL opportunities as the XFL continues to be a viable option for players looking to get to the NFL.
