The BattleHawks have two players that have, or are expected to sign to NFL teams this week. Along with QB Taylor Heinicke in Washington (expected), K Taylor Russolino has signed with the Denver Broncos to their practice squad.
You’ll notice Russolino wasn’t the only former BattleHawk to take to Twitter, as former team president Kurt Hunzeker sent a congratulations message.
Russolino was 9-10 in field goals last year for the 3-2 BattleHawks, including 4 for 4 from 40+ yards.
Despite being one of the last specialists to get an NFL workout, Taylor has not stopped honing his craft.
Numerous workouts with fellow XFL K Ty Rausa (Defenders) have been well documented, as well as videos of him setting up in difficult situations, including distances of up to 70 yards.
A small school product out of Milsaps College, Taylor set records for points, field goals made and PATs. He also spent some time punting along with placekicking in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes.
He joins fellow specialists Renegades Austin MacGinnis (Rams PS), Roughnecks Sergio Castillo (Jets), Guardians Matthew McCrane (Browns PS), Vipers Matthew Wright (Steelers PS), and Defenders P Hunter Niswander (Cowboys) in the NFL.
