Arlington Renegades Quarterback Drew Plitt Signs with Cincinnati Bengals

Now former Arlington Renegades quarterback Drew Plitt has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL reporter Tom Pelissero reported Monday that the Bengals signed Plitt to their practice squad. The move comes just days after starting quarterback Joe Burrow was injured and out the rest of the season with a wrist injury.

Plitt played for the Bengals last season as he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent. He threw for 76 yards and a touchdown in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Cincinnati went on it cut Plitt before the end of the preseason.

The Arlington Renegades were assigned Plitt as one of their two quarterbacks along with Kyle Sloter. Plitt played in four games as the quarterback throwing for 668 yards with three touchdowns and five interceptions, winning just one of his three starts. He added 57 rushing yards to the season. Plitt injured his knee during the season where he missed the back half of the season.

There is a lot of potential with Plitt at quarterback as he has shown off his athleticism and mobility. Plitt needed to work on simply having experience and getting used to the speed of the game when he played for Arlington. He is the only Renegade that is on an NFL roster.

Cincinnati is a good spot for Plitt with already being familiar with the offensive system and can serve as the third quarterback. He will be behind Jake Browning and former St. Louis Battlehawks quarterback AJ McCarron. It’s a win-win situation for a young quarterback who can get some more experience in the NFL.
