The Arlington Renegades saw a third player from their championship team get signed to the NFL.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported midday Monday that Renegades defensive lineman Bruce Hector signed with the New York Jets. Hector worked out with the New York Giants on Friday and appears to be staying in New York just with the Jets. He becomes the third Arlington Renegade to be signed to the NFL with Darren Evans and Willie Taylor being the other two.
Prior to the regular season, Hector was drafted by Arlington in their November XFL Draft. He played nine games for the Renegades this past season recording 16 tackles and one forced fumble. Hector was stellar in the playoffs in two games, finishing second on the team in tackles with nine and recorded a half sack to help the Renegades win the XFL Title back in May.
He went undrafted in the NFL draft in 2018 signing with the Philadelphia Eagles afterwards. Hector would go on to play for four other NFL teams up until 2022. He recorded seven tackles and a half-sack during his career.
The Renegades now are down two defensive linemen with Hector heading to the NFL and T.J. Barnes announcing his retirement from football after the XFL Title Game. They were both listed on the depth charts as defensive ends on the same side of the line. If fans followed the depth charts from last season, this should open the door for Davonte Lambert and Tomasi Laulile as the projected starters at the defensive end as of right now.
With more drafts on the way for the XFL, as teams push for 90 players on their teams before training camp, the Renegades will shift their focus to finding more support on the defensive line. As of the release of this article, Arlington has eight defensive linemen on their roster so more moves should be on the horizon for the defending champions.
