We are heading into the final regular season week for The Spring League’s 2021 season. We will find out who will play in the inaugural – and maybe only – Mega Bowl. Recently the league released the logo they’re using for the 2021 championship game, which will be on Saturday, June 19th at 3pm ET in Houston at Rice Stadium; tickets are available here.
It looks like the Linemen (4-1) are set to represent the North Division, and the Jousters (3-2) for the South. But, it may not be that easy.
The South has a 3-way tie at the top, with the Generals and the Blues joining the Jousters at 3-2. Everyone split their regular season games, and if the Jousters win against the 4th place Sea Lions (1-4), they’re in via points differential tiebreaker.
However, if the Sea Lions pull off the upset, winner of the Generals and the Blues will go to the Mega Bowl (I’m not a fan of the name).
In the North, the Linemen control their own fate. Win, and they’re in. If they lose, it will go to the tiebreaker with the Alphas, which the Alphas would need a really big one-sided victory to catch up.
There’s still a way for the Conquerors to get to the Mega Bowl, if they win against the 0-5 Aviators, and the Alphas win, the tiebreaker with the Linemen is much closer.
No fans have been allowed at the games in Houston yet, but that changes with the Mega Bowl, tickets are available.
The North has a scheduling conflict with Monster Jam at Lucas Oil, and will play Week 6 at Butler University’s football stadium.
There’s a chance that this could be the last we see of some of these teams, as it isn’t concrete as to whether The Spring League will continue once the new USFL starts next year. Don’t miss this week’s action, which starts tonight, 7pm ET.
