DC Sentinels would have been legitimate. Better brand than defenders franchise.

Names are less important than product.
      Put content on the field.
      The rest will follow.

Thank God they landed on the Battlehawks! Born and raised here, love my city, but the Archers, or the Aces…….. terrible! I think they got it right for all of the teams. Ridiculously pumped for the XFL in STL!!!

Interesting that Comets was a potential name for the Houston franchise considering that the city previously had a WNBA team that used that name.

A number of these names have a history. The WFL had a Jacksonville Sharks team in ’74 (a name that reappeared in Arena Football). The baseball Giants started out in 1883 as the New York Gothams. In 1927 the first AFL had a road team called the Los Angeles Wildcats actually based in Illinois. It’s likely that these are all coincidences. What’s really strange is the number of WFL names that got reused later: Charlotte Hornets was a historical name, but there were also the aforementioned Sharks, Houston Texans, Chicago Fire, and Memphis Grizzlies.

I’m just glad all the team names end with the letter S. Names like Frenzy, Phantom,
Gold and Nitro sound so bush league.

Wow, I would have chosen totally different names.

I didn’t love any of the Seattle names, so I will refrain from comment.

For New York, I like the Power or the Cannons. Guardians is OK, I suppose – the logo is cool.

I like the alliteration of DC Defenders, but the Armada is a very cool name, as is the Sentinels.

Would have gone with the Dallas Mustangs, but Renegades are my second choice from that list.

Houston Octane is an awesome name. Don’t mind the Roughnecks (reminds me of the NASL Tulsa Roughnecks).

Although not terribly creative, St. Louis Archers was my definite choice. The logo would have been interesting.

Love the Vipers as a name, not so much for Tampa Bay. Stingers would have been definitely cool.

The LA names were all awful so would have gone Legion for the alliteration.

The Roughknecks is the perfect choice for the Houston team with the perfect logo. Houston Nitros? Really? ?

Vipers should be the LA Vipers. Tampa should be the Stingers. I like everything else expect DC. They should have gone patriotic in DC. something like Stars N Stripes, etc.

XFL made a huge mistake not putting a team in San Antonio. The AAF team drew more than 25K fans. How could you not put a team back there?

Switch to the L.A. Vipers; that would have been better than silly Wildcats.
Bring back the Tampa Bay Bandits (old USFL)
