Oliver Luck starts off the announcement not in front of the press but at the XFL studios most likely in Stamford Connecticut. Before Luck starts announcing the XFL team names and logos, he said the following
“The team names and logos were chosen exclusively to represent the spirits of football fans in their respective cities and signify fun and football. Nothing more.”
St Louis – Battle Hawks
Laura Rutledge from ESPN at the ESPN studios in New York goes on to announce the next two cities, Tampa Bay and New York.
Tampa Bay – Vipers
New York – Guardians
Colin Cowherd from Fox Sports is next from the FS1 Studios in Los Angeles to announce Seattle and Los Angeles.
Seattle – Dragons
Los Angeles – Wildcats
Now we are back with Oliver Luck to announce Washingon DC.
Washington DC – Defenders
Laura Rutledge finishes up the announcements with both Texas teams.
Houston – Roughnecks
Dallas – Renegades
Olive Luck finishes the announcements by saying,
“February 2020 can’t come soon enough.”

Some notes
- We had reported on five possible names for XFL Seattle and Dragons was one of them.
- We did hear back two months ago about Defenders potentially being the DC name. But did not report on it.
- Within the last two days, Vipers was a rumored name, but no one knew which team.
- The XFL did a pretty good job keeping things hush hush.
