Hal Mumme, one of the founders of the air raid offense is headed to the XFL. He will be the Offensive Coordinator under Bob Stoops for the XFL Dallas franchise.
Air Raid Offense
The air raid offense is a run and shoot style offense. Plays are run out of a shotgun formation. It includes four wide receivers and one running back. A style that could be well suited in the XFL.
Mumme’s Coaching Career
This will be Mumme’s 15th stop in his coaching career. Never really staying in any one place for more than three years. His most recent coaching stop was as the offensive coordinator at Jackson State last year.
Mumme coaching stops at West Texas A&M, UTEP (OC), Copperas Cove (TX) HS, Iowa Wesleyan, Valdosta State, Kebtuc, Southeastern Louisiana, New Mexico State, and McMurry (Division III). He made a pit stop at SMU as the team’s offensive coordinator before spending the next three years at Belhaven as the program’s head coach.
With both Bob Stoops and Mumme calling plays, XFL Dallas could be one offense to watch in the new XFL. Throw in the free-agent quarterback and Texas football legend Johnny Manziel in the mix, and it could be must-see football.
