CFL-XFL merger? NEVER! I have been a loyal fan of the Canadian Football league and my BC LIONS since 1975. The CFL has been presenting the Grey Cup championship trophy for over 100 years. The league in its present form has existed since 1958 coast to coast. Our great game of 3 down wide open football played on a 110 yard field with 20 yard end zones must be protected. Our Canadian game at the University and community levels must be protected and not over run by American players and an XFL that’s barely survived one season. The USA knows nothing about Canadian football, and have disrespected and mocked it for years. Even the Rock who was cut by Calgary as a player years ago, has made disrespectful comments over the years, probably because he’s upset he wasn’t good enough to make the Stampeders. Get lost XFL. We don’t want you in Canada.

If, that is the sentiment of the majority of CFL fans then, move on XFL. We have plenty of markets right here waiting for a team to call their own .
The XFL, will be fine. What we (the fans of the XFL) need now is some sort of statement from the Rock, Dany, and Redbird Capital about the direction they want to pursue with respect to growth within the USA.
So, ” FOR THE LOVE OF FOOTBALL ” we need to chart our own course , start our own traditions, and above all develop & retain our own stars.
Good luck to the CFL and its fans. To us, ( the XFL fans) its only about the game .

The CFL XFL merger won’t amount to much if they don’t sign some star players. Johnny Manziiel was shafted by the Montreal Alouettes. They cut him one day before his off season signing bonus was due. They need his name power.
