Former New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will take part in the XFL tryouts this Friday. He is the first name announced by the XFL taking part in the XFL Summer Showcase in New York.
Nicks was a key part of the Super Bowl run of the New York Giants in 2012. They won Super Bowl XLVI by beating the New England Patriots 21 to 17. New York XFL Head Coach/GM Kevin Gilbride was the Offensive Coordinator for that team.
He was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played for the team from 2009 to 2013. He later played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2014, Tennessee Titans in 2015, and New York Giants again in 2015. The last team he played for was the New Orleans Saints in 2016 but was waived before the season began.
The XFL is hosting Summer Showcases in each of its eight host cities to evaluate players for the XFL’s inaugural season. Last week Dallas and Houston were the first stops in the Summer Showcases. This weekend is New York and Washington DC.
