Fox2 reports that talks between XFL league officials and The Dome at America’s Center are happening. The St. Louis BattleHawks were the top franchise in the XFL 2.0 era.
“Kitty Ratcliffe, President of the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, tells FOX2 that the league has been in contact with officials here, but that no agreement is in place for a return here.”
As we have seen with the USFL talking with Birmingham, these discussions can take time. However, with The Rock’s timeline of two to three weeks before some big announcement, the clock is ticking the get something done.
It is safe to assume that if there were an agreement in place, Ratcliffe wouldn’t tell the media. The XFL has been pretty hush about what is happening behind the scenes. Just look back on the XFL’s talks with the CFL.
However, reports of the XFL and BattleHawks talking go back to October 2020. The league wants to be back in St Louis, and it is clear that this is a priority.
The St. Louis BattleHawks would have had over 50,000 fans at The Dome for the LA Wildcats game, but that game did not happen. We all know why. When the league shut down, the BattleHawks opened up new seating areas in The Dome.
Will St. Louis BattleHawks Team president Kurt Hunzeker and head coach Jonathan Hayes return? We will finally be getting some answers soon.
