The XFL began June with as coordinators and directors of player personnel were announced by the new 8 XFL franchises. Most recently the new XFL Head Coach of the St. Louis franchise Anthony Becht announced that Bruce Gradkowski, Donnie Abraham and Dave Boller would all be joining his staff come February 2022.
Becht’s Offensive Coordinator will be coached by Bruce Gradkowski an 11-year NFL veteran who since retiring began coaching at the high school level. Most recently Gradkowski was named Head Coach of St. Louis de Salas of Toledo, Ohio before accepting a job with his former Buccaneers teammate.
Becht’s Defensive Coordinator will be Donnie Abraham a former Pro Bowl Defensive back who was a former teammate of Becht for three seasons with the Jets. Abraham, would begin his coaching career in 2005 coaching at various high schools, the Arena League, the University of Illinois, and most recently with the AAF’s Orlando Apollos. Abraham’s tenure in the XFL will be his 2nd time working as a Defensive Coordinator.
The final position Becht filled was the Director of Player Personel by hiring Dave Boller. Boller has had stints in the AAF with the Fleet and the XFL with the Renegades. Boller has been a recruiting director, a scout, a pro director among the college and professional ranks. Most recently Boller accepted a job with Arizona State before resigning to join the XFL.
As Becht continues to build his staff it appears he’ll continue to surround himself with familiar faces. With the XFL set to kick off in February, XFL coaches will continue to add to their staff, and hopefully will have a complete staff before the draft which is set to happen in November. Regardless of who Becht chooses XFL fans should be excited as now the pieces are all coming together for another amazing season of XFL football 3.0.
