XFL 2023: Orlando Guardians (0-2) Week 3 Preview/Prediction

Third time’s the charm: The Orlando Guardians are hoping to enter the win column for the first time after back-to-back losses to start the season.

There has been no shortage of drama surrounding the Guardians following last week’s 30-12 defeat to the San Antonio Brahmas. The team will have to overlook all off-field distractions, and hopefully, find a way to emerge victorious come Saturday evening.

The Guardians are back on the road for Saturday’s game following last weekend’s poor performance during the 2023 home opener. Orlando, for the second straight game, failed to find any consistency on offense totaling just 187 yards as a team for the game.

Head coach Terrell Buckley has been adamant in regard to the performances his team has put forth thus far. Despite entering the contest as heavy underdogs, this could be the week the Guardians finally display a competent performance for all four quarters of the game.

Guardians Injury Report

The Guardians injury report remains relatively barren, as it has all season. Orlando’s run defense could take a significant hit should all three defensive linemen miss the contest due to injury. All three of the players listed are technically backups, according to the depth chart. Nevertheless, the Guardians’ depth on the inside will certainly take a hit depending on the availability of these players come Sunday.

Guardians-Renegades Prediction

Despite just a two-game sample size, it has been made clear that the Guardians likely won’t be one of the teams competing for a championship this season. Even so, the fans of the team have shown steady support, and for that reason, you hope to see the team perform decently as the season continues.

The Guardians have a good chance to make Sunday night’s game competitive based on the Renegades’ lack of offensive firepower. While Orlando has not given fans much to be excited about on that side of the ball either, Arlington has been just as inconsistent when it comes to competency on offense. This game should be relatively low-scoring, and key plays could ultimately swing momentum to either side.

Prediction: Orlando Guardians 13, Arlington Renegades 19
