Seattle Dragons running back Trey Williams scored a touchdown in the second quarter of Saturday’s 32-23 loss to the Houston Roughnecks. At the time the touchdown out the Dragons up 12-0 over the league’s best team in the Roughnecks.
Long story short, Williams was having a lot of fun. And in typical XFL fashion, he was immediately interviewed on ABC’s national broadcast.
Here’s Williams’ interview with ESPN’s Dianna Russini:
Williams didn’t mean any ill will by doing that to Russini, it was a tribute to WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Rock made a career of cutting off people and giving him a “it doesn’t matter ______.”
See for yourself:
Part of what the XFL wanted to do differently was give these sideline interviews, and have coaches and players with live microphones on during broadcasts. Well, when you sell a league as different, and partner it with the viral hashtag of “For The Love Of Football” you’re going to get moments like this.
