It’s no secret that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson supported former Vice President Joe Biden in this year’s presidential election. With the results going in Biden’s favor, the big guy was moved to tears of joy.
Via his Instagram, Johnson congratulated the newly elected president and vice president, Biden and Harris, and went on to describe what it meant to his family:
“The reason I got emotional yesterday was because of what I felt my vote represented. My vote represented my little girls. It also represented humanity, decency, and the principles and values Lauren, my wife, and I instill in our little daughters. And finally, my vote represented the importance of just being a decent human being. And to me, being a decent human being matters.”

But that wasn’t his only message to the citizens of America. He made a point to express unity among everyone, especially those who have different opinions and beliefs than him:
“We’ve all been there. We’ve fought for things that we believe in with our hearts and our passion, and then we lose. I want you to know that I’m still here. I’m not turning my back on you just because we have a difference in opinion or voted for someone else. I’m going to make sure I continue to do everything that I possibly can do to make sure we’re all working together as a unified front.”

That’s what sports do. It’s what the XFL is all about. Unity. Football is a team sport. Everyone needs to be together to succeed as a unit, and that’s exactly what the owners of the league are trying to convey to the fans.
It’s no secret that many fans were driven to use their voices on social media about their feelings when Johnson and Dany Garcia put their support behind the Democratic party. But the clear message here is to come together.
Let the sport that most Americans love to watch bring us all together, regardless of our belief systems, politics, and opinions. Let football be the tie that binds.
Because just like the XFL, when it comes to America, we need us all, to survive.
