Less than 24 hours on the open market, after being cut by the Dallas Cowboys. Houston Roughnecks CB Saivion Smith signs with the Seattle Seahawks.
He is the only XFL player on the Seahawks roster. He joins DT Gabe Wright (Jaguars), and P Austin Rehkow (Colts) as the only Roughnecks with NFL futures contracts.
After the XFL folded, Smith started the season on the Cowboys practice squad. He later played in six games for Dallas, with three tackles.
This is his fourth team in three seasons playing pro ball. The Seahawks have a bunch of CB’s on their roster. They recently signed Ahkello Witherspoon and Pierre Desir along with drafting Oklahoma’s Tre Brown in the fourth round.
Tre Flowers, D.J. Reed, Damarious Randall, Gavin Heslop, and Jordan Miller are also expected to return. Smith will have his work cut out for him, but like all players, they just want an opportunity and he proved he can play with the Cowboys.
