At the beginning of week four teams could start to activate players off the injured/reserve list. Today, the Tampa Bay Vipers did so with their top defensive front seven pick Obum Gwacham, according to the XFL transaction list.

Gwacham injured himself during training camp and began the season on the reserve list. He was tabbed as a player to watch for the Vipers before his injury came to light. He is expected to immediately contribute now that he’s healthy.

He joins a pass rush that ranks last in the XFL in sacks (3) and has struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks on passing downs.

The 28-year old, 6-foot-5-inch Oregon State product was highly coveted in the draft when the Vipers used their first selection on him. He was a standout for the Atlanta Hotshots during last year’s Alliance of American Football.
