The Detroit Lions have signed St Louis BattleHawks QB Jordan Ta’amu to their Practice Squad. This is his second stint on an NFL Practice Squad this season. Earlier this NFL season he was on the Kansas City Chiefs Practice Squad before being cut two months ago.
He is the 11th BattleHawks player to sign a pro contract and the only XFL player on the Lions. TE Khari Lee (DC Defenders) had a brief stint with Detroit earlier this season. Fellow BattleHawks TE Connor Davis (Jets), K Taylor Russolino (Broncos), and QB Taylor Heinicke (Washington) are currently on NFL Practice Squads. S Kenny Robinson is on the Panthers active roster.
Starting Lions QB Matthew Stafford has been dealing with a rib injury. Stafford suffered the injury when he was blindsided by nose tackle Kenny Clark during the fourth-quarter in Sunday’s game against the Tennesse Titans.
This makes Ta’amu the fourth QB on the team. Chase Daniel and David Blough are on the active roster with Daniel being the likely starter in Stafford’s place.
Ta’amu threw for 1,050 yards and 5 touchdowns in 5 XFL games. He also led the league in rushing yards for QBs at 217 rushing yards on 41 carries. He was the BattleHawks Tier 1 QB pick.
