Jets Move DC Defenders CB Elijah Campbell To Their Active Roster

The New York Jets have moved DC Defenders CB Elijah Campbell to their Active Roster. He was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He played 13 snaps on special teams.

Campbell is the 7th DC Defenders player to sign a pro contract. He joins P Hunter Niswander as the only two Defenders on an NFL team. He and K Sergio Castillo(Roughnecks) are on the Jets active roster. TE Connor Davis(BattleHawks) is on the teams’ Practice Squad.

Rated as one of the top players in the XFL. Campbell was taken in the 1st Round, 4th overall in the Phase #4 portion of the 2020 XFL Draft by the DC Defenders. He finished the five-game shortened XFL season with 6 tackles.

At 25, he played his college ball at Northern Iowa. He had stops with Cleveland Browns and Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football. He had 21 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries in the AAF before it folded after 8 games.
