The signing of Armanti Edwards is huge for the Dallas offense. The 31-year-old CFL vet just came off a 1000 yard season with Toronto and brings a great blend of athleticism, experience, and playmaking to the table. He could be used in a variety of roles, and his experience at QB in college could make him a threat for more double forward passes.
Jerrod Heard previously filled the role of a wideout with passing capabilities, but saw limited snaps and made one reception for 10 yards. The former Texas Longhorn has a great skillset and wants to be the Taysom Hill of the XFL. A struggling team like Tampa Bay or NY would be much better off with his services.
It’s unfortunate to see Hau’oli Kikaha retire 3 weeks into the season, but he’s struggled with injuries throughout his career, and we wish him the best of luck taking care of his health. His spot will be filled by Jesse Aniebonam, who had 15 sacks and 26.5 TFL at Maryland and spent the past offseason with the Houston Texans.
The Dallas pass rush really needs to ramp things up, and maybe getting fresh legs in there is the best option.
QB Eric Dungey initially had just taken a week off for personal reasons, but after the tragic death of his father, he’s decided to put football on hold and be with his family. We’ll be keeping him, and his family in our thoughts this season, and hopefully he can make a return to the game when he’s ready.
Brogan Roback was brought in during Dungey’s absence, and will now fill the Renegades #3 role behind Landry Jones and Phillip Nelsen.
