The Cleveland Browns announced they have signed former Dallas Renegades LB Tegray Scales. Many teams are taking advantage of the opportunity to sign talent from spring leagues this year, but the NFL is doing it in big fashion.
Part of the reason is because of what the pandemic left behind last year. The lack of college pro days and scouting trips left many players out in the cold, not able to showcase their talent. But the alternative/spring leagues gave many that opportunity.
He finished the COVID-shortened XFL season with 24 total tackles and 1 sack.
Scales has been in the NFL before, so it’s no surprise he’s back. He signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana in 2018, and bounced around practice squads since.
He caught on last year in Pittsburgh, his 2nd stint with the club, after signing to their PS and then getting elevated to the active roster 3 weeks in a row.
He was waived by them in January.
Final roster cuts are coming in a few days, so we’ll soon see if he sticks in Cleveland or not. But we sure hope so.
