Kansas City Chiefs Reach Super Bowl For Fifth Time In Six Years

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to make history in just over a week, taking part in their fifth Super Bowl in six years. The Chiefs beat The Buffalo Bills 32-29 to secure a spot in the final. They are already the first back-to-back winners to make it to a successive final and are favorites to become the first team to win three in a row.

The Super Bowl is arguably the biggest sporting event in the US calendar and is certainly the biggest betting event. Even bettors in states where gambling is restricted can wager on their favorite team, using crypto for anonymous payments and accessing an offshore betting site.

This year, the match will take place between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs are favorites to lift the trophy for the third year running, with odds of -117.65. In contrast, the Eagles are currently +110 to stop the Chiefs’ impressive run in Super Bowl finals.

The Chiefs are favorites for a reason. They have a tight defence averaging just 19.2 in scoring defense for the season. However, there have been question marks raised over the protection that quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been getting this season, having been sacked 36 times in the season. They will need their defense to keep pulling its weight to pull off the so-called three-peat.

They certainly have the experience, too. This is the Chiefs’ fifth Super Bowl in 6 years, and they have won two of the last three.  Coach Andy Reid is making his sixth appearance in the Super Bowl, which is the second-highest number of appearances. Patrick Mahomes is one of several figures with one more appearance than the experienced coach.

Standing in their way are the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are one of few teams that can compete with the Chiefs defensively, having the best defense and running game across the whole NFL. Squon Barkley is backed by a powerful offensive line. Their passing game has been a little questionable, although it has been good enough to carry them through to the Super Bowl.

Although the Eagles have experience in the Super Bowl, and against the Chiefs. The pair met in the final two years ago. In that meeting, the Chiefs ran out 38-35 victors. The Eagles last won the Super Bowl in 2018, when they beat the New England Patriots 41-33.

Super Bowl 59 will take place on February 9 in New Orleans. Last year, more than 120 million people watched the game live in the US with tens of millions more watching around the world. It is the most-watched TV broadcast in the country every year, and this year is unlikely to be any different.  And, while the Chiefs are favorites, it wouldn’t surprise too many people to see the Philadelphia Eagles lifting the bowl this year and preventing Kansas from pulling off the three-peat feat.
