Recap: Blues Win TSL Opener 19-0 Over the Alphas

The Blues kicked off the 2020 opener for The Spring League and won with a 19-0 shutout over the Alphas.

Defense was the story early on in this contest with both teams exchanging 3 and outs. The Blues Cam Kitchen got an early sack and helped set the tone for the rest of the game

Blues QB Shea Patterson found a groove and connecting with David Grinnage on back to back plays getting the ball into Alphas territory. The Blues got on the board before the end of the first quarter when Patterson connected with WR Jovon Durante for a 20 yard TD.

The defense remained strong for The Blues the rest of the first half with Kitchen getting a second sack and Owen Obasuyi getting one as well.

Coming out of halftime the Alphas were on the move and got the ball down to the goal line before The Blues were able to shut them down when Cedric Wilcots II swatted the ball down at the line of scrimmage.

The Blues offense continued to find its footing and they were able to score when Patterson and Durante connected for their second 20 yard plus touchdown on the day.

The Blues defense continued to stifle The Alphas offense and Mason Bennett got in on the fun with a sack of his own.

The third and final touchdown of the game cam when Patterson was able to find TaQuon Marshall at the pylon.

The Blues finished off the game with a dominating performance from their defense including an INT from Elijah Walker, a fumble recovery, 2 sacks from Mason Bennett, one from Adam Rodriguez, 2 from Owen Obasuyi, and 2 from Cam Kitchen (7 total).

Shea Patterson was named player of the game with his 3 TDs.

The Blues (1-0) will be in action next on Wednesday November 11th at 5PM EST against The Aviators (1-0) and will be featured on FS1.
