Linemen Defeat Jousters 26-23 To Claim 2021 The Spring League Mega Bowl

The Spring League (TSL) wrapped up its season as the premier developmental football league in the country with a thrilling Mega Bowl that saw Ryan Willis and the Linemen complete a come from behind 26-23 victory over the Jousters this afternoon at Rice Stadium in Houston. The Linemen won TSL’s North Division with a 5-1 record and showed their toughness to claim the title over the TSL South Division winners, the Jousters.

Mega Bowl MVP Ryan Willis (26/37, 167yds/2TD) hit Isaac Zico (3rec/40yds/2TD) for a 16-yard touchdown with 52-seconds left to finish off the comeback after trailing 14-9 at the half and secure the championship.  The Jousters were lead in a hard-fought effort by QB Luis Perez (15/21, 203yds/2TD/2INT) and WR Josh Simmons(2rec/90yds/2TD).

Coming into the Mega Bowl, the Linemen had the league’s #1 ranked offense lead by the league’s leading passer Ryan Willis (1,680 yards, 13 TDs) and Coach Hal Mumme’s Air-Raid offense. In contrast, the Jousters relied on Coach Kevin Gilbrides’s defense and timely plays from Luis Perez.
