The Pirates continue to add talent to their offensive line to make a run to an IFL championship in 2023. Their latest addition is for University of Miami offensive lineman Navaughn Donaldson. Donaldson is a 6’6″ 345 lbs. offensive lineman that has spent time with the New York Giants roster after being acquired as an undrafted free agent.
In his time at Miami, Donaldson showed versatility playing right tackle, right guard and left guard. He was an instant success for the Hurricanes, as a freshman he was named a 2017 All-American and received All-ACC honorable mention.
Donaldson’s ability to play at different positions along the offensive line makes him a key acquisition for the Pirates. By adding Donaldson the Pirates have essentially added a lineman anywhere on their offensive line, which improves the depth of their offensive line unit. The Pirate’s offensive line was tied for 3rd in the IFL in 2022, only giving up 15 sacks.
This is the 2nd offensive lineman that the Pirates have added this off-season. Massachusets is coming off an 11-5 regular season that allowed them to be 2nd place in the East division, but they were ranked 8th on offense. With the additions that they have made to their offensive line, the Pirates will look to make a run at the IFL National Championship in 2023.
