Bored Ape Football Club to Face Zappers in Title Game at 8:00 pm ET on Twitch, NBCLX, Peacock, DAZN and Fubo Sports Network
ATLANTA, GA (June 9, 2022) – Fan Controlled Football (FCF), the only professional sports league that empowers fans to call the plays in real-time for their favorite team, will conclude it’s record-breaking second season at Pratt-Pullman Yards in Atlanta on Saturday, June 11, with the Bored Ape Football Club and Zappers set to play in The People’s Championship v2.0, which will be streamed live at 8:00 pm ET on Twitch, NBCLX, Peacock, DAZN and Fubo Sports Network.
FCF has experienced tremendous success in its record-breaking second season. Highlights from Season v2.0 include:
• Nearly 20 million fans tuning in to live FCF content, doubling the 10 million views received during Season v1.0
• 20,000 Ballerz Collective NFTs sold out as a part of the introduction of four Ballerz Collective expansion teams
• 250,000 FCF mobile app downloads since 2021 to rank as one of the top sports apps in the App Store for a second consecutive season
• More than 100 million impressions across all FCF social platforms and more than 70 million views of FCF highlights
• Over 100,000 followers/subscribers added across all FCF social platforms with over 2.5 million social engagements
Led by quarterbacks Johnny Manziel and Kelly Bryant, the Zappers (4-4) rebounded from an 0-4 start to win their final three games of the regular-season and secure a spot in the playoffs. One of the league’s original four teams, the Zappers defeated the Shoulda Been Stars in the OG divisional championship last weekend to advance to The People’s Championship. Owned by Bob Menery, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, New York Mets pitcher Trevor May and Ronnie2K, the Zappers are in search of their first FCF title.
The Zappers will take on the Bored Ape Football Club (6-2) who will represent the Ballerz Collective NFT division in this year’s title game. Led by quarterback Deondre Francois, the Bored Ape Football Club finished the regular season in first place and went on to defeat 8OKI, 38-32, in last weekend’s Ballerz divisional championship game. The Bored Ape Football Club is owned by leaders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club web3 community including TropoFarmer, Josh Ong, Jerseyborn, Franklin, Lindsey Byrnes, BenJammin, Jeff Nicholas, and Spr3adsh33t.
Zappers owner Dalvin Cook will be among the many notable owners and fans in attendance on Saturday night. “It’s been a wild season and I’m excited to be there to see my Zappers squad take down my college teammate [Francois] and win the championship,” said Cook.
This year’s People’s Championship, officially named by the fans prior to the inaugural title game in 2021, will be called by lead play-by-play broadcaster Greg Mescall and football analyst Ryan Shazier; Twitch analyst, Daniel (dGon) Gonzales, and Sideline Reporters Josh Macuga, Jeff Cannata and Liv Moods.
“With the People’s Championship v2.0 just days away, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible success we have had during these first two seasons,” said Sohrob Farudi, Co-Founder and CEO of Fan Controlled Football. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without the amazing support of our loyal and passionate fanbase. While we are already looking forward to Season v3.0, we can’t wait to celebrate with our FCF community one last time this season on Saturday night.”
In last year’s People’s Championship, the Wild Aces – now known as the Shoulda Been Stars – scored a touchdown on a QB run called by the fans on the final play of regulation to defeat the Glacier Boyz, 46-40, and capture the first-ever FCF title.
The Ballerz Collective is a first-of-its-kind NFT community where holders get to choose and control one of FCF’s four new web3 powered expansion teams – the Bored Ape Football Club, Kingpins, the Knights, and 8OKI. In February 2022, FCF minted a total of 20,000 unique Ballerz Collective NFTs and quickly sold out. In addition to allowing team governance rights, Ballerz each come with their own abilities that can be used during play calling and affect real life action.
FCF has redefined football for the digital age by combining the competitiveness of live sports, the engagement of fantasy sports, and the interactivity of video games into a live streamed, leaned-in fan experience.
With one game left in Season v2.0, fans can still register for free to join the Zappers and call plays in Saturday’s People’s Championship by visiting www.fcf.io. Additionally, fans can still purchase tickets by visiting tickets.fcf.io
Fans in attendance will also be part of FCF’s first-ever completely interactive, AI-driven People’s Championship halftime performance. Led by WarpSound’s GLiTCH, the world’s first Mutant Ape Yacht Club DJ, fans will co-create the performance by voting live. Fans can collaborate live with GLiTCH during the People’s Championship halftime performance in FCF’s Twitch channel.
