Chris Barrett Shows Ice in His Veins For Glacier Boyz

Chris Barrett was inserted in the game late. Immediately he showed ice in his veins, on his way to a near comeback with minutes left on the clock.

QB Chris Barrett Shows Ice in his Veins for the Glacier Boyz, during his comeback bid this past weekend.

Link to Game:

Heading into this weekend, former starting quarterback for Semi-pro team the New Jersey Stags. Barrett is no stranger to playing at a high level. During his time with the Staggs, he would find himself in the top three of the rankings in several statistical categories.

Barrett helped lead his team to an undefeated season, in which they collected 7 victories, and one tie game through 8 games. Barrett showed a knack for leadership and more importantly displayed the necessary football IQ to make it in a more widely known league.

Despite his strong 2021 season Barrett, found himself cut on the last day of camp before the 2022 season by the Salina Liberty. The Liberty had finished their 2021 season as the top-ranked team in the CIF. However, this opened the door for a better opportunity for Chris.

After being released Chris was asked to throw for the Rutgers pro-day by his former Quarterbacks coach. During this pro-day, he was able to put himself in front of scouts and received interest from multiple teams. This included NFL franchises; with the Titans, Jets, and Panthers all of which needed depth at quarterback taking a look at Barrett.

Ultimately this didn’t result in an NFL contract, but it did generate buzz around his name. This buzz certainly did not hurt his chances of landing another opportunity. Just before this pro-day, he had spoken to former teammate Danny Southwick. Southwick formerly of the Jersey Flight now plays for the Jacksonville Sharks.

Southwick asked Barrett to attend the last FCF try-out before their season 2.0 launch. Barrett would find his opportunity at this try-out. Inking a deal to join the Fan Controlled Football League. He would ultimately land with the Glacier Boyz before week 4.

Chris Barrett was inserted into the line-up with less than two minutes left. Due in part to the comeback rule, he was able to lead his team down the field to two touchdowns. When he entered the game his team had been losing 28 to 6. When the game was over, a receiver had dropped a pass in the endzone with the score 28-20. If not for a bobbled handoff on his first drive, we could be talking about a Glacier Boyz victory here.

Barrett wound up finding the endzone twice on his way to a very impressive 2 minute drill that watched his team nearly tie the score with less than 5 seconds left on the clock. Against a team that came into the weekend 3-0.

However, the fact remains that Chris Barrett has shown his value. He has earned his teammate’s trust as the veteran in the room, now can he find his way back to the top 3 rankings he held in 2021 with the Staggs, this time with the Glacier Boyz?
