Alpha Entertainment LLC, the company, owned by WWE chairman Vince McMahon filed five possible XFL team names this month. The trademarks were registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The five names were related to the XFL Seattle franchise. Alpha Entertainment also registered website domains for each of these team names.
The XFL filed trademark applications on 5 potential names for the Seattle team.
The five names trademarked and registered are Seattle Dragons, Seattle Force, Seattle Fury, Seattle Surge, and Seattle Wild. Based on reports by Team Presidents and coaches, they already know what the team name, so it is one of these.
Contrary to other reports, fans will not be voting on these team names. Oliver Luck has stated in the past that the XFL wanted to avoid this and name the teams themselves, rather than deal with the hassle of fan voting.
These five are the only team-related trademarks to have been filed associated with the new XFL. In the last two years, this same company had also trademarked “XFL,” “UrFL” (which is now expired), and “HE HATE ME.” We talked about the He Hate Me trademark in another report.
The XFL’s inaugural season kicks off in 2020. Teams have all eight coaches announced and team presidents. Teams name announcements are expected to take place in Mid July.
