Alpha Entertainment LLC, the company, owned by WWE chairman Vince McMahon filed five possible XFL team names this month. The trademarks were registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The five names were related to the XFL Seattle franchise. Alpha Entertainment also registered website domains for each of these team names.
The XFL filed trademark applications on 5 potential names for the Seattle team.
The five names trademarked and registered are Seattle Dragons, Seattle Force, Seattle Fury, Seattle Surge, and Seattle Wild. Based on reports by Team Presidents and coaches, they already know what the team name, so it is one of these.
Contrary to other reports, fans will not be voting on these team names. Oliver Luck has stated in the past that the XFL wanted to avoid this and name the teams themselves, rather than deal with the hassle of fan voting.
These five are the only team-related trademarks to have been filed associated with the new XFL. In the last two years, this same company had also trademarked “XFL,” “UrFL” (which is now expired), and “HE HATE ME.” We talked about the He Hate Me trademark in another report.
The XFL’s inaugural season kicks off in 2020. Teams have all eight coaches announced and team presidents. Teams name announcements are expected to take place in Mid July.
So which of these team names do you like the best? Leave a comment below.

I like the Surge – it is alliterative and it harkens back to the Sacramento Surge of the WLAF (I think).
My 10 year old liked the Dragons, so there’s that. He also like the Fury.
we the fans make or break you guys luck is wrong about not giving fans a vote to feel part something new I was around for usfl I’m 59 years old thay had top players not leftovers 500 million down the drain good luck luck just lost me
Obvious name has to be The Seattle Ospreys. A Seahawk is another nam3 for an Osprey, which we have here in Puget Sound. Stop your dumb names selected and trademark, Seattle Ospreys.
The NBA has the Wizards and Pelicans. After a while nobody thinks about the names, even when mentioning them. They should have a comment period for the fans to contribute ideas though.
All of these names are terrible but I hope we’re the Dragons so that fans can compete by making the crappiest dragon costumes and wearing them in the stands.
Seattle Dragons please!!! Bring back the Barcelona Dragons helmets of the WLAF. Lots of great merch potential. The rest are contrived and make make me yawn.
They’re going to have problems with the Seattle name Dragons! It’s still early enough to change name to the kraken, with a giant squid logo. And go with emerald and blue colors. I believe the name The Kraken would be a much better sell in the NW.
