Former Washington Redskins Linebacker Kurt Gouveia has been added the XFL DC coaching staff under Head Coach/GM Pep Hamilton. He along with Wide Receivers coach Bob Saunders, Offensive Line coach Christopher Scelfo, and Defensive Backs coach Sigismondo Cioffi were announced via the XFL DC Twitter account today. We previously reported on Chris Scelfo being added to the coaching staff.
Gouveia played 13 seasons in the NFL, nine with the Washington Redskins. He was a part of both their 1987 and 1991 Super Bowl Championship teams. Kurt is the third former XFL player from the initial 2001 season to now become an XFL coach. He along with Vince Amey of XFL Los Angeles and Jonathan Himebauch of XFL Tampa Bay. He left his job as linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at Brevard College to make the return to the XFL.
Bob Saunders was the Offensive Assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns before taking the XFL job. Before that, he was an Offensive Assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and St. Louis Rams. He also served two seasons as wide receivers coach in the UFL for the Virginia Destroyers.
Chris Scelfo was the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) which went under after eight games in 2019. He was the tight ends coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2008 to 2014. Chris was also the head coach at Tulane from 1998 to 2006.
Louie Cioffi was the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Legends of the AAF in 2019. He was the defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana for the 2018 season. Prior to that, he was a defensive backs coach for the Cleveland Browns during the 2016 season. He spent two seasons with the Tennessee Titans as a defensive back coach in 2014 and 2015.

June Jones I followed you since when you were coach at Hawaii. I always admired you as a coach. Coach Jones it will be a bad mistake if you put Johnny Manziel out there. A lot of us don’t understand why him when there are so many QB’s out there. I hope Vince McMahon stick to what he said. That young man is a trouble man and has been in the past abusive to his ex girlfriend. Not only that he was never very good. He just had a good team at Texas A&M. They made him look good. A lot of us fan give him a C average as a QB and watching him play earlier he has not improved. There are QB’s that is just as good with no criminal record. I guest it is who you know and not what you know. This is going to be a disaster.
