Today Jim Zorn announced the first addition to his XFL Seattle coaching staff by naming Clayton Lopez as defensive coordinator.
Lopez last worked as the defensive backs coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2013. From 1999 to 2003 he was an assistant coach with the Seattle Seahawks. He was defensive backs coach for the Oakland Raiders from 2004 to 2005, then with the same title in 2006 to 2008 with the Detroit Lions. From 2009 to 2011 he was defensive backs/cornerbacks coach for the St. Louis Rams. He was last seen coaching the Cayman Flag football national team in 2016.
He is only 48 years old, so this will be his first shot as defensive coordinator. He is a graduate of University of Nevada where he played defensive back from 1991 to 1994.
