Jim Zorn A.K.A James Arthur Zorn is a Former American Football Player & Coach in The National Football League (NFL). He is currently the Head Coach/GM of the new Seattle XFL Team set to begin play in 2020. Zorn was a Left-Handed Quarterback is best known for his eight seasons as the starting Quarterback of the expansion Seattle Seahawks.
After his playing days, he became Quarterbacks Coach for the Seahawks from 2001 to 2007. He then was hired by The Washington Redskins to be their Head Coach for the 2008 season. Zorn was hired at first as the Offensive Coordinator, but before the season began, was promoted to Head Coach. The Redskins went 12-20-0 during their two seasons with Zorn. In the early morning of January 4th, 2010, it was confirmed that Zorn had indeed been fired by the Washington Redskins after the final game of the regular season, a loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Former Broncos Coach Mike Shanahan replaced him. Over his sixteen years of coaching, his teams compiled a cumulative record of 130-126-0. Jim Zorn has since given a series of interviews with the local Washington D.C. networks in which he expressed disappointment in the handling of his dismissal.
He was then hired as Quarterbacks Coach of The Baltimore Ravens and lasted two seasons until 2011. He then joined the Kansas City Chiefs as their Quarterbacks Coach for the 2011 season before leaving the game. On February 25th, 2019, Zorn was announced to be Head Coach/GM of The Seattle based XFL Team.
Zorn played in the NFL for 11 years in total, served as an Assistant Coach for 10 years and a College Assistant Coach for 8 years. Zorn played college football at Cal Poly Pomona and signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 1976. In his 11-year NFL career, Jim Zorn played for The Seattle Seahawks (1976-1984), The Green Bay Packers (1985) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1987). He also played one season with The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) (1986) in Canada.
Much like Former NFL Head Coaches Bob Stoops & Pep Hamilton, Jim Zorn has also had a wide and extensive background in the world of Professional Football. His experiences and knowledge in the field can really help the XFL in the long run especially to reach the league’s ultimate goal of being the number one Professional Football League in the world. It will be interesting to see what Zorn can do to benefit himself as well as The XFL. As of this writing, it is being said that Jim Zorn’s net worth is approximately $12 Million.
