XFL To Begin Signing Players This Week, Official Press Release

With the final XFL Summer Showcases complete, The Spring League testing finished and NFL cutdown day in September. The XFL will now start the process of signing players to their draft pool.

Look for the XFL to sign around 200 players from their Summer Showcase. The bulk of their players will come from NFL cutdown day.

In total the XFL is looking to sign 800 players for their draft pool. This is for their eight teams and Team 9. Not every player invited will be drafted or part of Team 9. That is why the pool is so deep.

This is not an official XFL contact, this is just to be part of the XFL draft. Official XFL contacts for money will be signed after a player is drafted.

This is the next stage in the process of building a new league from scratch.

The XFL sent out the following press release.

COMMISSIONER’S INVITATIONS START XFL PLAYER RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Stamford, Conn., August 7, 2019 – XFL Commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck this week will start to invite an exclusive list of top free-agent players to be part of the league’s first draft pool.

“Extending invitations to our draft process marks the next step on an extraordinary football journey,” said Luck. “Many of the outstanding athletes who receive a Commissioner’s Invitation will be among the first to take the field in our new league, proudly representing their fans and their communities. I am delighted to offer them this exciting opportunity.”

The XFL will conduct its first player draft in October and include current and former professional football players. Each of the league’s eight teams will draft 70 players.

Players who accept a Commissioner’s Invitation must complete and sign a HIPAA release form and consent to and clear a background check. Only those players meeting these two basic requirements will be considered fully draft-eligible. If drafted, a player must then successfully pass a medical examination and drug test and subsequently execute an XFL standard player contract.

I would love to see XFL merge their teams into the CFL one day and have the CFL expand into America once again. And for Canadian idiots remember how many times your teams have folded in Ottawa and Montreal before getting it together.
